3/4 dress rehearsal
Joanna's class has been working on staging two short plays. This afternoon, we took a break from writing reflections on the year to provide an audience for one of the dress rehearsals.

Home stretch!
As the end of the year fast approaches, projects are culminating! Here we see the 5/6s working on assembling their city in the atrium, as the 3/4s rehearse their play outside.
Meanwhile, Kaeli and Sydney are wiring their building up for light:

5th and 6th graders popping up on other blogs...
I periodically make time to check in on all of the other Summers-Knoll blogs to see what's happening around the building. It's always fun and interesting to see the work that other students and teachers are doing.
I was happy to see some of our kids popping up on other blogs, and I thought you might enjoy a glimpse of our kids through other lenses.
For example, here's an entry from Joanna's class blog recounting the day that we visited to help the 3/4 class electrify their cardboard homes. (Here's our blog entry about that day, to refresh your memory.)
Karl's 7/8s recently completed a round of exhibitions of their work, which many of our class attended. Some of our kids wrote blog entry recaps of their experiences:
There's always a lot going on at our school. Be sure to check in with the other blogs to see what everyone is up to!

Wiring up Ant Arbor with Joanna's class
We had a lovely afternoon with Joanna's class today, working to install lighting circuits in the model homes built by the younger students.
We've spent a lot of time in class (read more here, here, and here) on the topic, and today we got to apply our knowledge by showing the younger kids how to wire two LEDs using parallel circuits.
It was a lovely opportunity for cross-classroom collaboration, and every single one of our kids did a wonderful job with their younger partners, carefully explaining the set up and teaching them how to replicate it themselves.
Our group outnumbers Joanna's, so we also had a tiger team of specialists available to help strip wire, divvy out supplies, and help troubleshoot problems around the room.
It was really an impressive showing by all of our kids, striking an excellent balance between demonstration and teaching as opposed to just doing it for the younger kids. They did a great job today!
